Just a couple of grad students who happen to share an interest in music. Creating original songs has become a release...as cliche as that must sound.

mom, i forgot your birthday (again)

a re-recording of a song i'd made a few months ago. it'll be tweaked once or twice more before it's all said and done. i've also got what i believe to be a pretty cool idea for an opening/close to the song, but i'll need a little help from my friends. stay tuned.

pretty self-explanatory lyrically...i'm a horrible son.

'waiting' & 'seven months'

so we've got two new tracks up on the space page. they both need work (as do the others). i literally wrote seven months of days in the past 24 hours using a riff I'd shown Sluijs around March and had yet to use. there are several ideas for inserting clips that i think would make that track a lot more interesting. also, a lot of my piano is off rhythm. still, this is just to put the idea out there. our motto since we started this around Christmas hasn't changed: "it's all about the idea." lyrically most of the song is about what i call my time in exile in georgia, which eventually transitions to the current situation back to the cornfields of defiance.

seven months of days:

in the grey space between two lives
is a mother with plenty of advice
they ignored her once
but she knocked twice
let her in

could you relay this hand-me-down message of mine
to its' rightful owner?
i'm thinking it's time

you'll find a number in the stall of an Augusta Bi-Lo
...Daniel's Parkway

seven months of days
and seven months of nights
and all those things that i told ya
well, those were white lies
they reflected so easily
off your pretty brown eyes
who ya love, girl?

holding off
on the world for awhile since it don't seem you'll leave my mind
sitting in
writing songs on sun-filled summer days instead of going out
after hours
smells of bonfires and teenagers swimming in above-ground pools
close my eyes
standing beside the Auglaize and wondering if I'll miss it

the other is a track Sluijs just created earlier in the week, i believe - while i was waiting. it's early, but i think it would be a great choice to kick off our record. that day is still a ways away however, so we've got plenty of time to decide. it's a short track, but there's a good vibe to it.

while i was waiting:

through the eyes of a stepchild
a woman shouts, "the sex is wild"
on thecorner of 10th and Mild
scaring kiddies like X-Files

now leave your familybehind awhile
at the deli by three-mile
there must be something about her smile
you stare at her through
the reflection on the tile

an ode to darner

we've dropped yet another nugget of joy (hopefully joy...and not pain) for yins to devour (or neglect, whichever).

first, i'll start by stating, that you won't need to turn your monitor, headphones...whatever it is you use...up, at all throughout the listening experience. sang this buster in one take and without writing (the lyrics don't make much sense at all, you'll find)...you'll have that with drafts i suppose...but back to the original point - for whatever reason, i was singing obnoxiously loud on this one.

this is a relatively new piano track for Sluijs and obviously very bare. no strings (we get string-happy often), no guitar...nothing. that will certainly change later. as will the lyrics.

for the time being, i tell you that the motivation for the title was taken (stolen?) from
a poem my cousin wrote entitled "i have a thinking problem.'' i believe her to be an amazing writer. this isn't the first time i've stolen from her. i made an extremely strange track a couple years ago called the lady in the radiator in which a distorted version of my own voice (with backing hummings and nonsense) read yet another one of her poems.

things are slowly beginning to come together on the little time front. piece by piece. peace by peace. there might be another nugget unveiled in the coming days.

'while i'm alive i'll feel alive'

the man. yoni:

midi mania

We're posting drafts of some new trax we've been working on over the past couple of days. These have literally came out of nowhere. I think the new midi's ignited our creativity quite a bit. We were in what some might refer to as a 'lull' for awhile there.

In other news, I can't log tonight's run because Running2Win's being updated. Whatthehell, bro? (in the voice of Jack Black's character from Anchorman)
